Small cream color notebook with "February, 1920" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. RBS, Katharine Suckley and Grace Montgomery staying at Chateau d'Oex Excerpts: Feb. 10: Tip our dining room waitress 5./ Girls started about 12:30 to walk to Rougemont intending to return by train in time for tea. / I walked up on Cray to [blank] very comfortably for sunset./ Grace received cable from Eliz. Lynch that she would sail Apr. 17 if G. would wait over here. G. cabled "yes" in reply. 11; Grace announces her desire to join Paula Robertson. 12: Cable to H.E.M. 25.50. "Grace wants to leave us Sunday to live with Miss Paula Robertson, Paris if you agree. 13: The 2 girls left in 11 train to visit Gruyere Chateau on a permit obtained from the owner by Col. Rivett-Carnac. / Telephone conversation with Dobbs , at Murren. We will meet at Saanen Mosen the 20th for 2 days. He starts for London on the 22nd. 14: Cable from H.E.M. "Bibariarun Robertson ingemmato with Fitch" means "Cannot agree Robertson, must stay with (Miss) Fitch." 15: Present to Arthur Suisse Fr. 100. / A. & the girls left on the 11:00 train for Montreux. He is on way to Geneve & Paris in a day or two. The girls will be back tonight. / Pd. concierge for Daily Mails 7.20. 17: Cable to H.E.M. "Will arrive Paris Feb. 26. Will ship by French Line 2nd week March Havre[?] good to expext fitch Mar 1 at 5 p.m. / Kath walked to Montbovon & back in P.M. 19: Dobbs arr. in 4:25. We had tea in bil'd room with the girls with orchestra playing. He beat me later game of 25 billiards. In evening in same room I got him to tell stories, play piano & we all sang up to 10:30. K. played also very well. 20: Slept all night for the first time. / Dobbs & I visited Beauclerk. found him some better than in Jan. He left for Montreux & England in 2:45 train. / G. C. Dobbs, Fairholme, Bexhill. 24: Girls & I heard very good music at a concert in the Chateau d'Oex salle by a violinist,p. & voice. 25: Farewell visits: Beauclerks, Mlle Blum, Lucile & Mme Rosat. 28: [Paris] Arthur took us all to see the water color exhibition at his Cercle Litteraire, 7 Rue Volney. Very interesting. I took them all to tea in Rue Cambon, scones & muffins. We did not dine. Arthur took Grace for long walk in evening. |
