Small light gray notebook with "July,1912" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. Excerpts: July 1: Hay harvest begun. / Robbie left for the west at 5:02. / Arthur left for N.Y. & Cambridge at 5:32. 3: Nummie left in 5:20 or 5:32 probably for Detroit. 5: Bessie & I signed trust deed turning over the Montgomery Philadelphia property to H.E.M. and H.P. Alan Montgomery in trust. 6: Rev. Mr. Saunders called on me in P.M. / Daisy, Kath. & Jean dined at Hamersley's. / Norton Miller drove Jean home. 10: Nummie & I sailed Ellide to Pok. to have Buckhout attach the KW magnets. However he was not able to get it working. / Helen Langdon arrived at 3 P.M. / Katharine arrived at 6:20 from Ninon Newton's. / Hamersleys, Millers, etc. came to tea / Hamersleys took Helen Langdon & Jean to Pok. in evening to see movies. 11: Lot of people to lunch. I lunhed at W.cliff. Also H.M.S. / Alan M's plans & specifications for addition on north end of this house arrived this morning. 12: Tennis at Wilderciff. I won two sets. / Daisy, Bettie, Helen, Jean & Peg lunched at Hamersley's. / Mrs. Lowry took Bessie for a drive in P.M. to Cruger's Island. / Arthur arrived from Cambrige at 5:40. / Snyder connected up KW magnets in launch this afternoon & also connected up spark & gas control. 13: Out in Ellide in the morning with Helen, etc. / Victor Livingston came in his motorboat to lunch. In P.M. Took us all for a sail down almost to Pok. Bridge. On return arrived at our dock at 6:25. On starting up the hill the T. Ford took fire underneath. All on board got away safely. The front wheels with tires & possibly the engine seem all right. The gasoline tank made a great explosion after some 10 or 15 minutes. / Arthur, Helen & Jean went to dinner at Hamersley’s. 14: Norton Miller took Jean in auto in P.M. He came to supper & stayed until 11 P.M. 16: Haines began the clay tennis court. Took all the sod to the garden. / Daisy, Helen & Kath lunched at Hamersley’s & played tennis all P.M. / Rev. Mr. Saunders came to tea. 18: Tiffany (garage) Pok. brought up a Hupmobile 32 Roadster. Gave rides to Nummie & Daisy. I ordered a 32 Tonneau. / Small tennis tournament at Hamersley’s. Helen Langdon won. / Rev. Mr. Saunders came to supper. H.E.M. dropped in later. 22: Lot of girls came for drawing lesson & stayed to lunch. 23: Bought #2 Brownie, 5 & films, 1 for Daisy. To be sent to Rhinebeck as it was not in stock. 24: Daisy, Bettie & Helen left on 9:23. The first two to visit Ninon Newton & Helen to join her family at Spring Lake. Gave Daisy 30. 25: Gave Bessie 30. We left on 9:23. B. continued to N.Y. & Philadelphia being joined by Addie in N.Y. I left train at Pok. Buckhouts. Bought Col. Bike for $80 at Von der Linden’s. Pd. on ac. 10. / Nummie with Kath, Peg & Grace took me home from Pok. in the Hupp. / Hub speedometer end of day 225 +. / Dined on piazza of Wildercliff. 27: 9:23 train to Pok. Buckhouts. Took possession of Col. Bike chainless. / Victor L’s boat at dock at 2:15. Bessie arrived at 3 having accomplished her business at Bryn Mahr [sic] [Bryn Mawr] 30: Work on tennis court / 3 girls went with Peg to lunch at Hamersley’s. / Hay harvest finished. / Took 5:32 train to town. Dined with H.E.M. at Yacht Club. / 638 Belmont. [RBS’s hotel room] |
