Small light gray notebook with "September, 1917" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. Excerpts: 02, Tues: Peg & Grace to town in the 8:08. Gave Peg wedding present of 400 04, Thurs: Daisy, Bettie & Eliz. Lynch with me to town in 8:08 / Peg's wedding day 09, Tues: Daisy, Kath & I to town in 6:48 at Pok. / Lunched H.E.M. at Eberlin's / At the N. Y. Library 42nd & 5th Ave., saw Squadron A march by at 10:30 on their way to camp Wadsworth, Spartenburg, S. C. Robbie is in it in Troop B. I think I saw him / Hair cut at R C [Racquet Club] / Said good-bye to Hugh Montgomery at R. club. He goes west tomorrow. 12, Fri: Victor L. with "U" boat chaser passed S. at 11 AM. He is delivering it to U. S. N. / Daisy with Ford spent most of day chez Eliz. Lynch's / Kath. & Bettie to Pok for former's dentistry / H.E.M. & Grace arrived from N.Y. (at 11:09) at Wildercliff / Had fire started in East boiler at 4 p.m. 18, Sat: Cable from Arthur "Please cable 550. sight / Suckley." (Cabled money on the 15th to Morgan, Harjes & Co.) 21, Sun: Bessie, Bettie, Nettie and Addie went to church / Bowne Montgomery arrived from the Aviation school at Boston. He has completed the first half of his course. He begins the actual flying part now somewhere. / Victor Livingston came to tea in p.m. / H.E. M., Bowne & Rupert Anderson dined with us at 7 p.m. 24, Wed: Daisy & I to town in 8:08 / Executed 5 year lease to Hoboken RR of the 4 lots they have used for many years / ½ holiday at Stock Exch. but the Liberty Parade was postponed until tomorrow on account of bad weather./ Lunch alone at Eberlin's / H.E.M. & Ark. King left in auto for Mineola 26, Fri: A big aeroplane passed N. at 11AM & South at 3 p.m. / Elizabeth Lynch moved to the Thompson Hosp. to get cured of a serious cold. 29, Mon: Bessie & Addie to town & Morristown in 8:08 / Wildercliff closed today / Bettie arrived at 9:30 30, Tues: At 11AM passed north a boat of the type (110 feet) being built at Rondout for U.S. Gov. by Livingston Bros./ Daisy & Grace II arrived at 2:05 |
