.01 Baltimore 3 June 1806 He appreciates her kindness when he was with the family in New York. Refers to his voyage and the color the sun made on his face. Reports on religious activities and asks her advice on being more devout and religious. He feels a journey would be good for her health. He asks that a letter from St. Domingo, now in New York be sent to him. .02 Greenwich 25 May 1808 He reports to her in Rhinebeck regarding the boys, the garden and its produce, the weather, and the noise the boys make when confined in the house. Rutsen has had measles lightly. John had to see the doctor but was up for supper. George may get them but no symptoms yet. The boys are doing well with their lessons. He hopes she is not neglecting Mary. Sally is managing well. Embant has been at the farm for a week. They do miss him waiting on table. He hopes her long absence is helping her health.but she is needed to manage the house. ,03 [No location] 27 March 1813 Letter to Catherine and Mary He compliments Mary on her writing and tells her of his dream of her. Hopes she has recovered from the measles. He hopes she will obey her parents and is glad the boys are good. He tells Catherine that he has sent her a small portrait done by a fellow boarder. He is glad Mrs.Tomville is still with her and sends love to the family. |
