Twenty-nine items: letters, a telegram, a postcard Jan-Feb. Letters to RBS in Switzerland. [letter #2] Feb.1. Newman ran over man in Rhinebeck--given care at the Thompson House. [#3] Feb. 7. Witnesses say Newman was not at fault. Henry suggests taking out insurance. "Two men tried to force an entrance the other night, , but at a sight of McCarthy's pistol, they retreated." [#9] June 25. Requests that boxing gloves be sent. [#12] July 7: Requests his pipe & pouch. [#13] July 10. Requests any portion of his July 1st allowance that is convenient, about $250. [#16] Aug 18: Requests his fountain pen. [#17] Oct: Strongly suggests getting NYC apt. as less expensive for the boys and more comfortable and just the thing Mama needs for her "nervous state." [#24] Nov. 17. Plans to buy a typewriter. [#27] Dec. 4. Does not like the idea of stuffing the head of Fiasac [dog who was killed by a train.] Most letters written on Spencer Trask & Co. Bankers letterhead. Henry often gives stock market news and suggestions. |
