Twenty-six letters and postcards [letter #4] March 2, 1912: Dropped from Harvard after entering on trial. With his previous record, they could not make allowances. [#5] July 3, 1912: Enrolled in summer school; still living at Claverly. [#8] July 31, 1912: Expects tennis court in Rhinebeck will be finished. [#4] Oct 15, 1912: Arthur is in Mesa, Arizona; riding every day; bought a horse with harness for $60. Assumes that in Rhinebeck there is a great deal of visiting around at the Merritts' etc. [#15] Jan 8, 1913: "It was a great idea flooding our court and putting an electric light on it." [#16] Feb 17, 1913 Plays polo [#17] April 13, 1913: Planning to return home from Arizona. "This ought to be a quiet year with Vincent going to Italy and the Hammersleys' away." [#20] July 6, 1913: At Harvard Engineering Camp at Squam Lake, NH. July 27, 1913: Did not pass his exams at Squam Lake. Plans to go to Columbia in the fall. Will enter the Maine Championship [tennis] in August. Aug 13, 1913: At The Swimming Club, Bar Harbor, Maine, "much like a Swiss resort." Becoming quite proficient in the Turkey Trot.
