Correspondence: Catherine Rutsen Suckley .01 3 pages. Castle Hill. June 1814. Discusses the possibility of Mary's staying longer in Rhinebeck and the return trip. Catherine, Mary's Papa and Sarah sailed to Castle Hill to pick strawberries. Tells about the health and doings of Mary's siblings. Gives religious advice. 02. 2 pages. Received Oct. 25, 1823. .03 3 pages. A few comments on Mary's writing skills. During the school vacation Mary should appoint regular hours and have the books in the same place so that in attending to the children she will improve at the same time. Coming from New York she caught a heavy cold which she has had for a fortnight. Catherine has enjoyed staying with Mary's Grandmamma. She will be glad to get home. .04 2 pages Mary's last letter pained her mother so she sent Catharine up for a surprise visit. Reports on the health and whereabouts of various acquaintances. Attached is a note from Caty - Doane left a newly published book, "Long by the Way," including many of the pieces he had given to Mary. 05. 1 page. Mary's Pappa arrived so Catherine's plan for returning home has changed. They were at "the old gentleman's" and this afternoon they go to Mary's Aunt Grace. Catherine is sending down a young shoat. They have found a gentle horse at the lower farm for Thomas. .06 2 pages. Greenwich. June 16. She delayed in sending Catharine up as Mary had mentioned going down [to the city] and Catherine feared they might pass each other on the river. |
