Thirty letters from RBS's Aunt Phebe who continues to consult him about business matters - banking, taxes. She notes how she and sister Eliza spend their time and is always interested in and asks after Robert's wife and children. [letter #20] March 31, 1899: Tells of peaceful death of Aunt Eliza [#22] May 18, 1899: Phebe returns to Rhinebeck from her rented Poughkeepsie house earlier in the year than usual. With fires lit in the rooms, she is comfortable at the Homestead even if it is cold and rainy. [#29] May 1, 1904: Since RBS and Harrie are going to Rhinebeck and Harrie has the key to the Homestead, Phebe wants Robert to take the basket of silver Eliza wanted him to have to his own home. |
