Small light gray notebook with "Decvember, 1909" printed on cover provides two lined pages for each day of the month. 1909 DECEMBER Records travel of family members, his & Bessie's frequent, separate, trips to NYC 04, Sat: "Katherine & I played V & P [viiolin and piano] in evening very well. / Bessie & Arthur arr. at 9 P.M. from N.Y." 10, Fri: Wright put up shelves S side of my office 11, Sat: "There was skating on Morton Lake / The twins with Miss Austin started for Pok. in afternoon to buy gloves & skating boots, but had several punctures making it too late to reach Pok. / Bessie arr. at 9 PM." 12, Sun: "Col. Astor & Vincent were at church. Asked for Arthur & wanted him to come up for tennis." 15, Wed: "Smith called about buying lot on South St. " 16, Thurs: "Rec'd 220 (ck) from 20th Century Automobile Co. from sale of 20 H.P. Orient car." 17, Fri: "Wright raised boat h. gates & placed the wire netting to keep out birds. / Putting in wash basin, h & cold water, 3 fl. bath room." 20, Mon: "Putting in h. w. radiator 3rd fl. bath room. / Col. Wars, Gen. court at Delmonicos 8:45 P.M. Refr. Election. / Daisy is 18 today. Sent her a check for 18. / Twins skated on Morton Lake in P.M. I could not find my skates." 21, Tues: "H.E.M. & his 4 children arr. at noon. We all went to Morton lake & the children skated. H. E. M. to town in 5:32." 22, Wed: "The sale of 200 R.S. today netted me a profit of 933.50. / Harry Maury & I dined together at the Yacht Club. Afterwards wrote & mailed letters to Alioth, Reuss & Dobbs." 23, Thurs: "Drew 200 from H.E.M. & Co. in gold & new bills to use for Xmas presents / Met Daisy at Gr. C, at 2:30 -her train was late. Started her & her travelling companion, a teacher, on the 3:35 for Rhinecliff. Provided them with papers, salted almonds, peanut brittle & nutted chocol. / Dined at Racquet Cl. / Saw 'The Passing of the Third Floor Back' at Maxine Elliott's. Well worth while." 24, Fri: Bght Bigelow's Reminiscences (12.) & presented the 3 vols. with some bonbons & salted almonds to Nettie & Addie at 780 Park Ave. / 4:01 train to Rh. / Hair cut & shave / Train ¾ h. late. / Found all my family at supper./ Went over to Wildercl. with Nummie in evening. H.E.M. has a sore throat & eye. Grace did not come up." 25, Sat: "Repair top library chim." [chimney] 26, Sun: "The snow storm with n'ly wind raged all night. No church. Skied in afternoon with Nummie & Bowne. / Middle sized night boat, passenger, is fast in the ice at 5 P.M. - also at 10 P.M. - S. W. of house." 28, Tues: Clearing roads. / Packard succeeded in getting to Rhinecliff & back." 29, Wed: Ther. on piazza at 8, 6° / Nummie skied to Village in A.M. / 3 girls, Nummie, 3 Montgom. & I skiing in P.M." 30, Thur: "Ther. in my window at 7 A.M. is at 0, F. Weather cloudless & calm. / River ice seems anchored. / Gave Nummie 20. / Gave Robbie 20. / They left for N. Y. for a theater party & dance, by 3:20 train. / The 3 girls & 3 elder M's skied in P.M." 31, Fri: "Nummie & Robbie arr. in p.m. / Started electric lights at 4:30 - 4 in dining room, 4 in morning room, 3 in hall newel post. / Bessie, Daisy, Robbie & Arthur left at 8:30 in sleigh to go to Rogers' New Year's dance at Crumwold Hall, Hyde Park."
