Small light gray notebook with "October, 1912" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. Excerpts: Oct. 1: Newman took Packard to Pokeepsie but failed in effort to get a new top. / Man from Blangas Co. came & erected the Range, box & piping. 3 tanks, of which 2 are in the box & ready for use. He did the work between 1 P.M. & 5:45. / My right cheek glands & gums swelled, became tender & gave an effect much like a toothache. 2: N.Y.C. [New York Central] delivered 2 carloads of cinders at boat house. / Arthur rowed. / Welsh still at ice boat. / We are having a new top for Packard made in N.Y. for $90. / A man from the Rife Ram Co. inspected pumping station. Says it is all right. / Bessie & Addie arr. at 5:54. 7: Arthur left in 9:23 for Pok. Then he took the 10:37 for Chicago, Omaha, Phoenix & Mesa, Ariz. / Bessie & Nettie lunched at Hyde Park, Roosevelt’s. / Addie at Eliz. Lynch. / Frank Olmstead took tea here & Eliz L. paid short visit. / Letter to Manager Racquet Club about Nummie’s membership. / Bght for B. 100 Wheeling 1st @31 ½ / Bght for myself 100 Wheeling 1st @31 ½. 12: I lunched chez H.E.M. with him & H.E.M II & Nummie / Later we 4 went north in launch to Delano’s. The 3 left cards as they were away. Very rough. Left on return at 4:55 reaching our house at 5:55. / Mary C. Montgomery arr. at 3. All of us dined at H.E.M., Eliz. Lynch also. Dancing afterwards. 14: House of Rest 59 E. 59 4:30 P.M. / Celine Strubin sailed in Chicago June 8 for a vacation & to visit her people. She arrives in Savoie boat today & returns to my house to resume her position. She began her service with us in Sept. 1907. 18: H.M.S. came up 6:28 train bringing Henry Maury. / Celine arrived here back from Suisse. 23: Took Penn train #119 8:00 A.M. reaching Bryn Mawr at 10:45. Changed trains at Broad St. Phila./ Always raining./ 11:20 train to Phil., 12:09 to Chestnut Hill, 2:02 to Phil., 3:24 to N.Y. / Reached 42nd St. just too late to catch the train home. / Daisy is 9th in strength of 125 fresh women. 24: Miss Lawrie, Kittie Hamersley, Helen Miler & Nathalie Morris née Bailey) came to dinner. Nathalie is staying with the Millers. |
