Small light gray notebook with "January,1912" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. Travel to Germany and Switzerland. Excerpts: Jan. 06: Sailed on the Amerika from Hoboken. 09: Reading Thoreau's "Friendship." 12: Reading "The International Encyclopaedia." Very interesting but not to compare with the Britannica. 14: Arrived at Cuxhaven, Germany; headed to Hamburg 18: Arrived Chateau d'Oex; Beauclerk was "at the gare." 19: Tea with Major McKenzie and Beauclerk; spoke with Dobbs. 21: Reading "The Innocence of Father Brown." 27: Sad letter from Alioth at hospital - Bern. Fear his life is nearly finished. |
