Fifty-four letters, postcards and telegrams written from various places in Europe, particularly Switzerland. Dobbs travels a lot, became a director of Continental Travel Limited (also uses Alpine Sports, Limited letterhead,) plays golf and arranges motor tours as part of his job. He reports on their mutual friends - Beauclerk, Reuss, Jabez - and of Caulfield's expertise on skis. [letter #7] July 4, 1908: A caricature in three sketches of "Messrs. Dobbs and Caulfield in their great combined skiing act." [#40] Jan. 29, 1911: Rates Caulfield's book as the "best exposition of the theory of skiing that has yet been published. " [LC04608] |
