Nine letters, just one from 1911, to Robert from his wife [letter #1] July 14, 1911 Bessie is concerned about Arthur's grades. He should study all summer while at Gland. She hopes the voyage is a good one for RBS and Arthur. Jan. - March: Letters to RBS in Europe. [#4] Feb. 14, 1912 Addie and Nettie spending time at Wilderstein as the house in Summit is being repaired after a fire. In spite of the cold, Wilderstein keeps an even temperature. [#5] Feb. 5. Reports on the Crosby family - household in a happy enough state now. Robin seems to like Columbia; thinks he has passed exams. [#6] Feb. 19. Robin has recommended stocks but Harry will not do anything with Bessie's affairs without RBS's authority. [#7] Feb. 27. Sends congratulations to Beauclerc on his engagement and greetings to kind Mr. Alioth who is nearly recovered from a serious operation. Katharine is one of the best piano players at school. Requests more money to spend. A statement from Harry shows she overspent her allowance of last year by $684.00. Concern about the possibility of fire at Wilderstein. Has sent for fire extinguishers. [#8] Mar. 3. Arthur has not passed his Harvard exams. [#9] May 16. Bessie attended a large luncheon of Colonial Dames at the home of Mrs. Barklie in Wayne [Penn.] |
