Small light gray notebook with "September, 1912" printed on cover. Provides two lined pages for each day of the month. As usual, RBS records his weight; the weather; often what he eats for meals Excerpts: Sept. 1: Addie, Eliz. L. [Lynch] & Daisy lunched with Lena Fitzgerald on her yacht. On their return, I sent Ad. & Eliz. L. home in the Packard at 5 P.M. Lena & her Miss Johnson came to supper with us. 5: Stung near left eye by wasp. 6: Left eye entirely closed & whole left cheek very much swollen & headache. Stayed in room until after four. / For lunch here: Lena Fitzgerald, Eliz. Lynch, Grace M'g, H.E.M. & Miss Johnson. / H.E.M. bought from me 9 tungsten of which were 25 watts & 4 were 20 watts. He will pay later. / Bkt - melon, toast, postum; Lunch - none; Supper - milk toast. 7: Bkt - 2 eggs, postum, melon & toast; Lunch - none; Supper - none. / (1st) Some playing on new tennis court. Among the players outside of Harry's & my family were Kath. & Helen Miller, Ethel Merritt, Dr. Taylor./ 2 Miller girls to lunch. / Kittie Hamersley & Mrs. Lowrie to supper./ Weight on going to bed 173 1/2. 9: Grace's (my cousin) birthday./ Lunched at Wildercliff with H.E.M. & family & Victor Livingston & Mrs. RR Livingston / Addie came to stay day & night with us. / Victor L. took Wildercliff people & me nearly to Pok. & return in the "Chirota." / Kittie Hamersley & Mrs. Lowrie dined with us & with all my family went to play at Pok. They got back almost midnight as Newman had gone home sick. I had the "Hub Garage" send down an auto for the Pok trip. 18: Bessie & I signed deed to N.Y. Central RR of land covered by their grant west of their center line & north of the southerly side of my boat house excepting the space covered by boat house. I reserve the right to an access road from crossing. / The W. line of RR prolonged would cut my b.h. about at its East 1/3. 19: Bessie & Daisy to dressmakers. Daisy to lunch at Merritts & sewing class afterwards. / Kath. & Eliz. to sewing class (Eliz. Lynch's) with Peg & Grace in their auto. 26: Watch ran down. Set it at 11, 45" / My niece Peg Montgomery under Miss Becket's care sailed in Savoie at 10 A.M. Mr. & Mrs. H.E.M., Daisy, Nummie & I were at the sailing. 27: Received from Martin Heermance a new note for 1698.19 signed by him & his son Radcliffe for same amt. on demand & also a check for 84.91 interest to July 1, 1912 on the old one. I to return old note. / Welsh is scraping the smaller ice boat preparatory to varnishing it. / Wright is taking old iron b.h. gate to pieces / Range for blangas arrived yesterday. 28: Gave Bessie 10 to spend at Holiday Farm fair. / Thatcher Luquer arr. at 3 & Nummie at 5:02. 30: Bessie, Addie, 3 girls & I to town in 9:23. / 3 trunks to Bryn Mahr [Mawr], 2 trunks to Chestnut Hill, Phila. / Paid 3 girls Oct. 1 allowance, 10.m 10. & 10. Gave Bessie 100. / Put the 5 in the 2 P.M. Penn with tickets for Bryn Mahr [sic]. |
