Small light gray notebook with "September, 1908" printed on cover provides two lined pages for each day of the month. 1908 SEPTEMBER 1, Tues: Robbie is 20 today. Gave him 20 19. 1. + 8 for 40 fr. Gold. Tea, cake, candle and presents In P.M. H.E.M. and Bowne, H.M.S., Robbie & I to Pok. in launch. Return in 1 h 12' 3, Thurs: Twins are 15 today. Gave them 15 each. 6, Sun; Remove panels kitchen fence. Replace with wire netting (square) 8, Tues: Sophie Langdon arr. from Morristown at 2:02. H.M.S. & Daisy brought her home from the station. Later she & I with H.E.M. to the Lynches for an hour & to bring back Addie. Alice with her 2 children were there. On return found Henry & Emmy Olin having tea chez moi. Teal the surveyor came in A.M. The Dows deed & mine overlap a little at Fox Hollow. 9, Wed: Grace's birthday. Gave her a cut glass vase for flowers 10, Thurs: Sophie, etc. played tennis at H.E.M's. Took Addie to Mansakenning in evening. H.E.M. to town in 5:07 11, Fri: Gave Robbie 10 to buy thread making machine at Pok. He & Arthur went down in Ford car. 15, Tues: Took twins out in launch. Supper at 6. Start at 7 with Sophie, H.M.S., Daisy & Robbie to see Ethel Barrymore in "Lady _____" at Pok. opera house. Supper at Morgan House. Home by 12:30. Bessie & Arthur had colds too bad to go. 16, Wed. Bessie & Robbie to town in 9:18. Gave B. 30; gave Robbie ? / Addie came over from Lynch's to stay with us / Robbie ret. Fr. N. Y. at 8:20 / [Describes launch trip to and from Pok. which he & HEMS took.] 17, Thurs. To town 1;15, lunch on board / Dinner at Racq. Club with H.E.M. & to see Algeria afterwards / Room 938 Belmont. 18, Fri. Dinner at Racq. with H. E. M. / New York theater afterwards to see "follies of 1908" Very good. 19, Sat. New bat. for pocket el. lt. / 75 feet 3/8 in. galvanized wire 25, Fri. Stretched ½ gal. cable N & S from spike to (75') boat house 26, Sat. Launch out 3 times; Harry & Grace in PM - they came down in auto. Addie later. H.M.S. & I dined at Wildercliff. 28, Mon. Rain today after weeks of drought. / Brunswick Refrig. Co., New Brunswick. Send "Refrigeration in Modern Homes." 29, Tues. Robbie left for Harvard in 10:54 train. Gave him 75. 30, Wed. Arthur left for school in 9:18 train. Gave him 20. / Montgomery apart. 780 Park Ave. / Bessie, Addie and Margaret left in 3:22 train for N. Y., the latter en route boarding school Stamford, Conn. Gave Daisy 20 & Bessie 30. / Montgomery left in 5:45 train for Harvard. Gave him 30. |
