Twenty-nine letters and postcards [letter #1] Jan 13, 1918: Found house in Spartanburg, S.C. which would be perfect for Mama and the girls. [#2] Jan 21: "Mama & the girls arrived last week and have had a good time ever since." [#13] Oct 3, 1918 [Stationed in France] "Our work is to classify the prisoners that come in to the cage." "That wedding [Betty & Littleton Hambley] must have been an interesting thing... I am glad it was a Suckley event at Rhinebeck instead of a city thing in the Incarnation with the name of Montgomery associated with every phase of it." [#17] Dec 16, 1918: "The war's sudden ending has been a tremendous let-down." Describes socializing with a French family. [#19] Expects to be discharged soon. Nov 24, 1919: 41 East 80th St--"I feel that if you could rent it for a good figure, you would be willing not to sell it...I have always hoped, if I should ever marry, to rent it, and live there myself."
