2 pages. New York. Labree hastens to reply to the RS letter of August 30 [title .19]. Labree has no intention of selling his property. He would only consider "a bargain" and would have to "be sought." Doyle had not spoken to Labree since Doyle visited RS in Rhinebeck. Labree has received no money from Doyle and doubts that he will. Labree will contact RS immediately if he does receive money from Doyle. If RS does not plan to dispossess Doyle from the property, Labree requests permission to lease the ground in front of his lots, so that he might put up a fence to block the view of Doyle's premises. Doyle claims to be richer than Labree. Doyle has been indicted for selling liquor without a licence out of his premises and for excessive noise on Sundays. He has hidden from the police trying to serve the arrest warrant, but Labree believes that eventually he will be served. Labree asks RS to inform him of his intentions re Doyle's continued lease of the premises, and Labree's requests to rent a portion of his premises for the fence. |
