Description |
A framed 18th-century mezzotint of Edward Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke, as an eight-year-old boy posed with his left hand on his hip, head turned slightly to the right, wearing a cap, coat, and shirt with open collar. Engraved by John Smith, London, after a portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller. Titled "Edward Lord Hinchingbrooke" and marked along the bottom edge: "[corner missing] Kneller S.R. Imp: et Angl: Eques Aur: pinx: I. Smith fec: Sold by I. Smith at ye Lyon & Crown in Russel Street Covent Garden." Black wood frame with gold trim. |
