Description |
Right shoe of pair. Soft ivory color leather with design in brown beads on toe. Small heel. Burlap inner sole with pasted paper label: "Richard W. Slack, / Ladies Shoe Maker / No. 51 Maiden-Lane, New=York." Found wrapped in paper (with partial name of Macy & Co. on back) on which is written: "Worn by Catharine Rutsen (Mrs. George Suckley) in 1799 [or 1788]." Catherine and George were married in 1799. |
