Description |
An Early Victorian Ebonized Walnut, Tortoise Shell and Boullework Lady's Desk, Attributed to Ringuet LePrince or Leon Marcotte, Paris or New York, Circa 1850-60. With a molded oblong top outlined with brass stringing above a slant lid inset with elaborate pierced brass and tortoise shell in an oblong panel and opening to an interior fitted with pigeonholes and small drawers; the whole above a deeply serpentined valanced drawer similarly inlaid with boulle work and continuing to brass inlaid angular cabriole legs with gilt brass chutes chased with rococo and tattered scrolls. |
