Scope & Content |
The first nine letters are from the Hudson River Institute in Claverack. They contain information about the weather, health, letter writing, school events and lectures he has attended, studying, printing of calling cards and references to ice skating and ice boating. The ninth letter is atypical and sounds as though he was homesick. The last five letters are from college in Middletown, Connecticut. These letters talk about the courses he is taking, the secret societies courting him and the one he joined, friends and sports including the Freshman Crew and baseball team. |
